High R-Value (2.9 R): Has more than two times the R-value of wood fiber and more than four times the R-value of gypsum boards. User Friendly: Allows easy and efficient scoring, cutting and snapping which permits fast, tight fabrication and all in a low dust environment.
R value of 30 per inch £ 60 per sqm Currently the most insulative material on earth. But also comes at a good price. However has zero structural integrity. Available in non-standard ie an size 300mm thickness on average Through development R values of 50 have been recorded, however most of this developed material is not commercially viable. A medium-density batt offers R-13 for the same space. High-density batts for a 2 by 6 inch (51 by 152 mm) frame wall offer R-21, and high-density batts for an 8.5-inch (216-mm) spaces yield about an R-30 value. R-38 batts for 12-inch (304-mm) spaces are also available. per CAN/ULC S770-03. The R-value at 180 day real-time age and 75ºF mean temperature is commonly used to compare products and is the value printed on the product. 5. Values at yield or 10% deflection, whichever occurs first. 6. Value at yield or 5%, whichever occurs first. 7. Data ranges from 0.00 to value shown due to the level of precision of R-values help homeowners decide which type of insulation material to use, and in what thickness. An R-value is a measure of a given material’s thermal resistance, or its ability to inhibit warm Various Insulation Material Thermal Conductivity Chart R-values per inch given in SI and Imperial units (Typical values are approximations, based on the average of available results. Johns Manville AP™ Foil-Faced Foam Sheathing Board is rigid polyisocyanurate foam sheathing that provides exceptional heat, moisture, and air control to protect your building's exterior walls, and when installed correctly, eliminates all major thermal bridges that cause heat loss. Continuous exterior sheathing required per building codes in many states.
Key differences are R-value per inch, water resistance, compressive strength, permeability to water vapor, facings, and of course, cost. All foam insulation products are petroleum-derived. Rigid foam sheets are sold in several thicknesses; most lumberyards carry insulation ranging from 1/2 in. to 2 in. thick.
THERMAX TM Foamboard. THERMAX TM brand insulation is a polyisocyanurate rigid board insulation with an R-value of 6.5 per inch. This product has FM 4880 class 1 wall and ceiling approval for fire exposure and can be left exposed in both the wall and ceiling providing a nice aesthetically pleasing look to the interior as well as increasing energy efficiency. Fiberboard rigid insulation is a product historically used in roof recover jobs, or jobs where a new roof is being installed over an existing roof. It has an R-value of 4.0 per inch, and is typically installed in thicknesses of ½” to provide a substrate between the old roof and the new roof. May 01, 2009 · Although the nominal R-value of polyiso is the highest of the three major types of rigid foam, its cold weather performance is lower: As the temperature drops, so does the R-value. Some builders working in cold climates give it an R-value of 4.5 or 5 per inch. Polyiso is not rated for ground contact. Mar 20, 2019 · This is an even more dense and more expensive foam board insulation. It provides an R-value of 6 per inch of thickness and often comes foil-faced to help reflect radiant heat. Polyiso comes in several thicknesses and is used over house sheathing underneath siding or in attic spaces where its reflective properties are very effective. Per-inch, R-value of softwood is 1.41. In hardwood, it is 0.71. Logs of around 6 inches would then have an R-value that is about 8. This value, when compared to other insulating materials, is actually pretty low; it is so low that it is below many industry standards.
