This used to mean that any user with a VPN could select a server based in the UK and watch BBC iPlayer content for free. This was problematic for the BBC as it had no way of policing whether a user was a license-paying viewer or not.
Has anyone yet found a solution to the problem of iPlayer not working on a Smart TV? It stopped working on my UE32ES5500 back in June and I've tried everything that the BBC and Samsung have suggested, all to no avail. What I have worked out is that it has something to do with 'interactive' mode. If you reset your tv, bbc iplayer then works. If you then push the red button whilst on a BBC channel (which enters 'interactive' mode) then iPlayer will not load.
This issue normally occurs when you have a defective add-on, I would suggest you to refer the article and perform the steps provided. The step to manage add-ons will do the trick.
Does anyone know why the app has stopped working? I click on it but it just takes me to a blank page. Also how I can reload the app? All the blogs direct me to the iplayer mobile site but once there, there is nowhere to download the app. Any help gratefully received, thanks. The IPlayer support one is, And I have logged in on my brothers laptop and it doesn't work so that means it is something to do with the account so I deleted it in the end and created another one using a different email address and STILL the same bloody thing, The only other thing I can think to why the website isn't working is that my brother We have tried pinging BBC UK website using our server and the website returned the above results. If bbc.co.uk is down for us too there is nothing you can do except waiting. Probably the server is overloaded, down or unreachable because of a network problem, outage or a website maintenance is in progress
