If you check the wireless 3G properties it might not be set to ALWAYS connect to it, and if it has a weak signal, the highest signal will be the one connected too, even a NEIGHBOR's signal, which could be p/w protected, and you can't connect to, give you the 169.254.xxx.xxx which is the Windows DEFAULT when it can't get a connection. Aug 11, 2018 · I have no idea why this worked, but it did. I was trying to access internet on my Dell E6400 Win 7 via a (Netgear) repeater. I could connect to the repeater, but it said no internet access, while at the same time my other computer (Mac) could access the internet via that same repeater. Anyway, I restarted holding F8, and now it works just fine. I'm thinking that a virus/bad windows update caused it but not sure. All you have to do is run a system restore to a date probaly about a week before it happened. Mine occured on 12/18/11 and i ran a update for 12/16/11 which didn't work so i chose an earlier restore point which was 12/10/11 and it fixed my "identifying no network access" problem.
